Art, Design and Installation
Created for Scarborough’s Groundswell Festival, this large-scale sculptural gateway celebrated colour, play and community. The installation combined bold geometric forms, vibrant pattern and my recurring eye motif to create a joyful threshold that welcomed visitors into the festival.
Alongside the installation, I facilitated a community art activity where participants wrapped colourful wool around small rectangular forms. These handmade pieces became the sculpture’s distinctive “eyelashes”, weaving hundreds of individual contributions into the final work. Together, the project celebrated the idea that public art is not only something to experience, but something we create together—bringing people of all ages into a shared act of creativity and connection.
